The 2025 BYD Tang L EV AWD Flagship is positioned as a premium all-electric mid-to-large SUV in the 300,000 RMB segment. Built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform and featuring the new “Loong Face” design language, it measures 5,040 × 1,996 × 1,760 mm (L×W×H) with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. The curb weight is approximately 2,300 kg (dual-motor AWD version). It offers a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout, with a standard trunk capacity of 700 L, expandable to 1,960 L with the rear seats folded, catering to both family and long-distance cargo needs. Exterior finishes include four porcelain-inspired color options: Glazed Silver, Ink Bamboo Green, and Inkstone Gray, accentuating its sophisticated Chinese luxury aesthetic.

Powertrain & Performance

Dual-Motor AWD:  The Tang L EV AWD Flagship features a front 230 kW + rear 580 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor configuration. The system delivers a combined maximum power of 810 kW (≈1,102 PS) and peak torque of 1,100 N·m. It achieves 0–100 km/h acceleration in 3.6 seconds.

Pure Electric & Plug-in Hybrid Variants: The RWD Pure Electric variant offers a single rear motor with 500 kW, achieving 0–100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. The AWD Pure Electric variant delivers 810 kW combined power and 0–100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 265 km/h. The Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) version (5th Gen DM technology) combines a 1.5T range-extender engine with dual motors, providing a pure electric range of 165 km and a combined range exceeding 600 km.

Battery & Range: The Pure Electric variant is equipped with an 82.5 kWh high-energy-density Blade Battery (supplied by LG/CATL). Ranges are 720 km (CLTC), 550 km (WLTP), and 450 miles (EPA). The dual-motor AWD achieves an energy consumption of 15.2 kWh/100 km (WLTP). Utilizing 250 kW ultra-fast charging, it can replenish 400 km of range (0–80%) in 30 minutes and is fully compatible with public charging infrastructure.

Exterior Design & Chassis

Loong Face Aesthetics: The front fascia features split-type “Four-Point Square Pupil” LED headlights with DRLs integrated into a chrome strip across the closed grille. The lower bumper incorporates traditional folding fan elements. The profile showcases a floating roof design and “Bamboo Rhyme” full-width LED taillights. Dimensions: 5,040/1,996/1,760 mm (L/W/H), Wheelbase: 2,950 mm. Drag coefficients are 0.25 Cd (Pure Electric) and 0.28 Cd (PHEV).

Wheels & Suspension: Standard 20″ low-drag alloy wheels (255/45 R20), with optional 22″ forged wheels. Suspension comprises a front double-wishbone + rear multi-link independent setup, enhanced by CDC electromagnetic adjustable damping and DiDyna intelligent torque vectoring for balanced comfort and sportiness. With 190 mm ground clearance and approach/departure/ramp breakover angles of 31°/33°/25°, it offers commendable light off-road capability.

Interior & Technology Features

Chinese Luxury Cabin: Inspired by Chinese palace roof elements and bamboo craftsmanship. Features include a 15.6″ floating 4K touchscreen, a 12.3″ full digital instrument cluster, and an optional 12.6″ co-pilot entertainment screen. Standard AR-HUD, welcome lighting, and 256-color ambient lighting create an immersive experience. Extensive soft-touch materials and bamboo wood trim adorn the interior. Nappa leather + Alcantara upholstery covers the seats. Front seats offer 12-way power adjustment + heating/ventilation/massage + memory leg support. Rear seats feature zero-gravity functionality with 16-way adjustment + heating/ventilation.

Premium Audio & Comfort: Equipped with the DI Audio 20+1 speaker system (supporting Dolby Atmos & DTS:X), a refrigerated/heated console compartment, and a smart fragrance system. Cabin noise levels are maintained below 30 dB. Rear entertainment, dual-zone 60W wireless charging (front and rear), and a 12V power outlet in the luggage compartment are included.

Smart Connectivity: Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip (60 TOPS computing power) and DiLink 4.0 OS, supporting OTA updates, holographic voice interaction, “Hello Di” voice command (wake-word free), multi-screen collaboration (CarPlay/HiCar/in-car mini-programs), digital key, and facial/voiceprint recognition unlocking.
